The Organization, Information and Learning Sciences (OILS) interdisciplinary program focuses on adult learning; learning sciences; instructional design and technology; organizational learning and development; evaluation; distance education; eLearning; human performance technologies and data management. The program (formerly known as Organizational Learning and Instructional Technology or OLIT) is now part of the College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences.

  • Doctor of Philosophy

    The Organization, Information, and Learning Sciences (OILS) program offers a unique perspective on learning sciences by concentrating on the convergence of organizational development, and instructional design and technology. The program focuses on learning at the individual, group, and organizational levels, The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organization, Information and Learning Sciences is a research degree. It is designed to develop the candidate's competencies to design, conduct, and report original theoretical and applied research in the selected area of study. The Program of Studies and the dissertation reflect an emphasis on theoretical concepts, inquiry skills, and original research. Doctoral study is intended to be a stimulating and demanding intellectual experience. Graduates are expected to become leaders in the education and training fields through the application of research, knowledge, and critical thinking skills.

The OILS program offers a Master of Arts (MA) dergee that gives students the opportunity to combine aspects of adult learning, organizational learning and development, learning sciences and instructional technologies including multimedia design and online learning. Choose from five different concentrations to achieve your career goals.

  • Bachelor of Science

    The Organization, Information and Learning Sciences (OILS) program offers a unique perspective on learning sciences by concentrating on the convergence of organizational development, and instructional design and technology. The program focuses on learning at the individual, group, and organizational levels. Students can earn a B.S. in Intructional Technology and Training with the 2+2 Transfer Program. The program takes two years of college credit from an accredited institution and two years of coursework in OILS to earn a B.S.. The OILS B.S. Program offers students the flexibility of learning with an accelerated program and online courses.

  • Professional Development Certificates

    The OILS Professional Development Certificate Program was established to offer an opportunity for working professionals to upgrade their skills and knowledge. This Certificate may lead to a job promotion, additional job qualifications, or new job opportunities. The Certificate Program is a 12 credit hour non-degree, graduate level activity and therefore, does not require admission into the OILS graduate program.
