Founded in 1878 as Ashland College, the name of the institution was changed to Ashland University on May 12, 1989. This change was a practical and logical step based on the many diverse undergraduate, graduate and professional programs offered by the institution.Ashland continues to have a rich tradition as a private, comprehensive institution preparing students for exciting professions and careers. The University consists of four academic colleges -- College of Arts & Sciences, Dauch College of Business & Economics, Schar College of Education and Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences -- as well as the Graduate, Online and Adult Studies; the Founders School for Continuing Education; and Ashland Theological Seminary.

MBA: Human Resource Management
MBA students specializing in HR can create strategic human resource plans, initiatives, and activities to meet organizational needs and significantly impact the success of an organization. We’ve researched and designed specialized coursework covering the latest HR best practices and management strategies. Everything learned in the classroom is hands on and about applying theory. Key topic areas include creating and implementing strategic human resources initiatives; evaluating the effectiveness and financial impact of human resource activities; talent recruitment, training, development, management, reward and retention strategies; effective labor relations practices; and creating healthy, safe, and compliant work environments.
Ashland University's MBA program is designed to provide flexibility in terms of curriculum, learning style, and pace through the program. The curriculum is structured into a series of 30 credit hours, at minimum. For accelerated program options, the courses are completed over 6 sessions that span just under 12 months. The Ashland MBA Program is also available in a part-time format, and part-time students typically complete the program within two years.
